Dana Wharf sportfishing 1/2 day trip

My youngest son, Joseph, and I went on a 1/2-day trip part boat trip out of Dana Wharf Sportfishing. They are in Dana Point, in-between Orange County and San Diego. Joe and I have been there a few times before and enjoy going back. Dana Wharf is class act, and they make sure all have a memorable experience, from the tackle shop to the deck hands aboard. It is well worth it. These trips are very pricey, and I always look for a deal.  Saltwater fishing, in general, is a very expensive sport. This short ½ day trip is usual around $70- each, but it includes the boat, bait, and help if needed. These boats can have upwards of 50 anglers on them, so, like I said in a previous blogs, elbow to elbow. A lot of line tangling, too. They do have longer trips, ¾ day, full day, even a two day. The price is up there so, keep that in mind. I found a deal, half price Tuesdays. $35-. Total $70- for both of us. I am not a fan of saltwater party boats, but my son does so, I go. I get to catch fish so, that’s a plus. You can bring your own fishing tackle or rent tackle from them, about $20- bucks. We moved around the bay to catch Spotted Bay Bass, both Joe and I did not catch bass. I ended up with ten small mackerel and even a sculpin. The sculpin was big enough to take home and eat. I can’t wait, never had sculpin before. The deck hands even fillet the fish, too. Joe got skunked, but he had a lot of fun. Dana Wharf’s boat the ‘Clementine’ has a galley and the food is expensive. They have breakfast burritos and cheeseburgers. The are very good. It is a good value for anyone wanting to try do it for the first time. Just look for the deals and discounts.

Until next time, tight lines.
